Nazi Concentration Camp Guard Aged 100 Pleads Not Guilty in German Trial

BERLIN—A 100-year-old former concentration camp guard believed to be the oldest person ever to be tried for Nazi-related crimes pleaded not guilty on charges of being accessory to the murder of more than 3,500 inmates.

The man, named only as Josef S., served as a guard and member of the SS Nazi militia at the Sachsenhausen death camp near Berlin, where tens of thousands of people were killed as part of the Nazi extermination effort.
